RE: Invitation to the Community Seed Fair 2009 Malkangiri 12.2.09 to 20.02.09
Dear Biswamohan Babu,
This is a wonderful effort for keeping our SOIL SOVEREIGNTY, SEED SOVEREIGNTY and SOCIAL SOVEREIGNTY.
I wish it a grand success and spread to other parts of Orissa, Jharkhand and many other tribal areas.
On this occasion, you may like to read one of my poem,"The Grain Goddess" through which I celebrate seeds.
Regards Dr Balaram Sahu
THE GRAIN GODDESS
(A Poem By Dr. Balaram Sahu)
She conveys her best wishes
With small packets of grains
She believes, she solicits the goddess
To mitigate others pains.
For her, each grain is the seat of goddess,
Brings in love, health and prosperity
For her, each grain is a temple
Where she meets the almighty.
Grains from hills and dry lands
Are full of blessings
Grains from deserts, millets of minor
Are goddesses in disguise!
Plants grown with scanty of water
Express best of their genes
Grains yielded in stress
Can only use the best natural means.
Each seed from desert and dry land
Is like a mother- in- pain
Ready to deliver the best of her elements
In the form of beautiful grains.
She teaches how to treat the grains
With best care and wishes
She gives leaves of Negundo and Turmeric powder
To preserve the grains without stress.
(Mrs Malabika Sahu is a housewife who lives in Keshari Enclave, B-401, Nayapalli, Unit-8 Bhubaneswar, Orissa, who collects minor millets from dry lands like Kalahandi,Koraput and distributes to Nears and Dears in Urban areas for the popularization of these minor grains. She believes these minor millets have tremendous life giving elements.)
